Dr. William T. Scroggins, Mt. SAC President and CEO - 2023

Since 2011, Dr. Scroggins has overseen unprecedented growth at the college. He expanded academic offerings by working with industry to ensure graduates were prepared to enter the workforce in more than 60 new programs, including drone piloting and social justice. Thanks to Dr. Scroggins’ support, Mt. SAC also boasts the largest School of Continuing Education in the state, providing career and technical education throughout the region. Dual enrollment programs, providing high school students with opportunities to get a jumpstart on their college careers, grew tremendously, as did student services and equity initiatives. During Dr. Scroggins’ tenure, the college launched a Pride Center, Equity Center, Veterans Resource Center, El Centro and the Center for Black Culture and Student Success.

Dr. Scroggins also oversaw the transformation of the physical campus, funded by bond measure initiatives that built modern, cutting-edge learning environments rivaling those of four-year institutions. Perhaps most significantly, Dr. Scroggins guided the college through its years-long recovery from the Great Recession and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dr. Scroggins' visionary and transformative leadership at Mt. SAC will be missed by students, faculty and staff alike. A Walnut resident, he has pledged to continue his involvement with the college, the community, and the students he has so passionately served while in retirement.
